*There are currently two options available to participants for the
       Volunteer program.  Please read both options carefully.  


Volunteer programs are only offered during the fall and winter semesters, from
September through December and February through June.

Participants in the program will be teaching oral English classes for 18-20 hours per week.  
Volunteers will be placed with at least one other China Horizons teacher of the same gender.

Option 1:

Program fee of $775.  

This $775 program fee covers all of the following.

  1. China Horizons service/application fee.
  2. Round trip airfare from nearest international airport in USA to Shanghai or Beijing or Hong
    Kong.  
  3. Single entry Chinese Visa.  
  4. Transportation to and from the airport to the host school.
  5. A free furnished apartment with no more than 2 teachers per room on or near the school
    campus.
  6. A meal card to use at the campus cafeteria.
  7. Ready to use cell phone upon arrival in country. (Teachers are responsible for pay-as-you-
    go minutes after initial charge is depleted.)
  8. Support and training from China Horizons representatives.  



Option 2:

Program fee of $1900 which is *FULLY REFUNDED during the semester in
China.  

This $1900 program fee covers all of the following.

  1. China Horizons service/application fee.
  2. Round trip airfare from nearest international airport in USA to Shanghai or Beijing or Hong
    Kong.  
  3. Single entry Chinese Visa.  
  4. Transportation to and from the airport to the host school.
  5. A free furnished apartment with no more than 2 teachers per room on or near the school
    campus.
  6. A meal card/stipend to use at the campus cafeteria.
  7. Ready to use cell phone upon arrival in country. (Teachers are responsible for pay-as-you-
    go minutes after initial charge is depleted.)
  8. Support and training from China Horizons representatives.

*The $1900 refund is dispersed in Chinese currency on a monthly basis during the semester.  

NOTE: The only difference between the two options is that one is a low cost, non refundable fee
while the other is a higher initial cost, but fully refundable.  Both volunteer program options
include round trip airfare to China.

The application deadline for both volunteer options is December 15.  
Applications will still be considered on a case by case basis after this date.

Both options exclude the cost of obtaining a passport if necessary, international travel/medical
insurance which is not required but recommended, and any personal spending money during the
semester abroad.

This program enables individuals seeking to experience China, an extremely inexpensive option
for immersing themselves in the Chinese way of life and culture for 4-5 months.
